Thousands of people fill Sant Marçal at the 21st edition of the Motor Retro Marratxí fair

More than 60 exhibition and sales stalls, with the presence of 14 groups from outside Mallorca, attended the event, with thousands of attendees over the weekend

Marratxí is once again home to the massive Motor Retro fair, which has gathered thousands of people on Saturday and Sunday. More than 60 exhibition and sales stalls, with the presence of 14 groups from outside Mallorca, associations and attendees from Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Alicante or northern Andalusia, have filled Verónica de Sant Marçal.

The most striking proposal was the Porsche exhibition, with the evolution of the different models of the brand, among which the sporty 356 of 1954 stands out, a two-seater that was the first series car that it manufactured . Antonio Martínez, collaborator in charge of the exhibition, has assured that “we are lucky to be able to bring together a retrospective of the brand since 1954, when Ferdinand Porsche created the 356 model, two seats, going through the creation of his son, the 911 from the year 1965 until the year 2010. Many other Motor Retro have not been able to achieve this exhibition of sixty years of history, almost all the series since the birth of the brand are given, with vehicles from Mallorca Martínez says proudly.

With twelve selected cars, some of them only made for closed circuits, the value of the exhibition adds up to two million euros, “with parts of up to one hundred and twenty thousand euros”, he adds.

Also attracting attention was the Marratxí Local Police tent, which exhibited at the fair an old Sanglas 400E motorcycle, with electric ignition of 400 cc. which was acquired by the city council on May 9, 1975 and was used until the beginning of 1990.

The mayor, Jaume Llompart, attended the event and expressed his gratitude for Marratxí hosting the fair for another year: “Marratxí is once again on the national map with this twenty- an edition of Motor Retro Marratxí, which more strongly than ever gathers motor lovers, cars and old motorbikes to enjoy a weekend to tear down, share with friends what they have bought and restored”.

“It is a pride as a city council to accompany the organizers of this fair, and a joy to see how Marratxí is a benchmark and nerve center for the retro motor, with more than sixty exhibitors from Mallorca, Menorca and the peninsula and thousands of visitors who pass through here for two days”, added the mayor.

The event was attended by the mayor, Jaume Llompart and the Councilor for Fairs and Festivals, Antonia Coll, as well as other members of the municipal corporation.
